The Method

A method for making brand decisions more rigorous, transparent, and useful.

Brand work often fails because the reasoning is invisible. The method makes evidence, hypotheses, and confidence explicit—and turns the brand into a managed system rather than a one-off deliverable. Evidence-based does not mean pretending every decision can be proven like a lab experiment. It means using the best available evidence, naming uncertainty, and testing or revising where appropriate.

Built for teams that need to explain a brand or creator decision, not just assert it—to a board, a regulator, or a skeptical customer. The outcome is a labeled recommendation: high-confidence, test-advised, or exploratory, so everyone knows how much weight it can bear.

Framework current as of August 2026; the compliance and evaluation lenses are reviewed as FTC and platform guidance change.

Six phases

From diagnosis to a governed system.

Phase 1

Diagnose

Understand the current brand, business context, audience, and the problem to be solved. Stakeholder interviews, asset review, content inventory, competitor scan, performance baseline. Outputs: current-state inventory, problem framing, initial evidence map.

Phase 2

Gather & Grade Evidence

Collect from multiple sources and assess weight: direct vs indirect, strong vs weak, current vs stale, representative vs anecdotal, observed vs self-reported, strategic relevance. This is where the work becomes truly evidence-based.

Phase 3

Form Strategic Hypotheses

Turn evidence into working interpretations: “The problem is trust, not awareness.” “The messaging is too insider-oriented.” “The inconsistency problem is operational, not creative.”

Phase 4

Design the Brand System

Positioning, messaging architecture, narrative hierarchy, proof architecture, visual criteria, content priorities, governance rules.

Phase 5

Test & Implement

Not everything can be tested perfectly, but much can be evaluated: headline variants, proof placement, CTA framing, audience-specific messaging, offer framing, page hierarchy.

Phase 6

Govern & Adapt

The brand becomes a managed system: review cadence, governance docs, approval rules, AI guardrails, quarterly review, triggers for revisiting strategy.

Recommendation confidence

Every recommendation is labeled.

High confidence

Strong, convergent evidence. Act now.

Moderate — test advised

Directionally supported; validate before scaling.

Exploratory — validation needed

A hypothesis worth testing, not a conclusion.
